Anti drug trafficking police in Banteay Meanchey province yesterday sent the case of two suspected crystal methamphetamine dealers to court, following a two-month investigation.
Phin Sideth, head of the anti-drug trafficking police in the border province, said officers caught Van Bunthoeun, 53, and Chhin Vannak, 40, by posing as drug buyers, and they arrested the pair on April 29 as they were attempting to sell almost a kilogram of the stimulant in Poipet town.
Sideth said the operation had identified other suspects who were still being sought by police. Meanwhile, the arrested pair would be processed, he said.
“We have finished questioning them,” Sideth said, alleging the pair were “active” drug distributers in the area.
“We have investigated and followed them for two months.”
Sideth said a recent crackdown by his officers had uncovered 10 drug trafficking cases.
The arrest followed a similar bust in Stung Treng province the previous day, when anti-drug officers chased down and arrested two Laotian men attempting to smuggle almost a kilogram of ice across the border from Laos into Cambodia.
