Outbound golf holidays to exotic locations around the world are on offer at the first of its kind Flying Golfers Challenge set for a 7.30am start at Phnom Penh’s parkland-style Garden City Golf course on Sunday.
Organised by Siem Reap-based PSD Golf, the unique event, open to two-player teams of amateurs, is to be played in an aggregate pairs format with System 36 in use for handicap counting.
“The Flying Golfers Challenge is a platform for us to introduce outbound golf packages to multiple destinations as some of the main prizes while providing a competitive event for participants,’’ general manager of PSD Travel Candra Tanpatti told the Post yesterday.
Some of the exciting golf hotspots in sight for winners include Japan (Hokkaido), China’s Mission Hills, Indonesia (Jakarta and Bali), Vietnam (Danang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru) and Thailand (Pattaya and Hua Hin).
The sponsors for the event, to be decided by one 18-hole round, include Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Golf Tourism Association, Morris Garage, RIMOWA, Garden City Golf Club, Angkor Golf Resort and Fenix.
The attractive prizes up for grabs include those for best net score (individual), champion combined net score (team), runner-up combined net score (team), second runner-up combined net score (team), nearest the pin, longest drive and nearest the line.
According to the organisers, in the event of a tie, the winner will be determined on count-back system, the back nine holes score followed by back six and finally back three.
